Here's What to Do When Your Furnace Won't Ignite

February 23, 2017

We are making our way through the last few weeks of winter but we still have to have our furnaces, especially during cold nights. Not much is worse than laying down at night just to realize your furnace won’t kick on. If this happens to you, here are a couple things you can check yourself before calling Jack Nelson Service Experts.

Check Air Filters

You should swap out standard air filters every 30 days. If you do not, they can get clogged, obstructing air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction.

Check Your Thermostat

See if turning the temperature up a few degrees will get the furnace to turn on. If the true room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, confirm the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”

Check the Power

It may seem ridiculous, but verify the power switch next to the heating system is “On.” Even gas heating equipment uses electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidently moved to the “Off” position.

If you inspect all these things and your heating equipment will still not turn on, give Jack Nelson Service Experts a call at 918-212-8927 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
