4 Signs it's Time to Replace your Boiler

March 04, 2017

Is it time to replace your new boiler? Jack Nelson Service Experts is here with a couple indicators to look for when deciding whether it’s time to purchase a new boiler.

Age

If your condensing boiler has standard maintenance, you can expect it to function about 15 years or longer. Cast iron boilers can last a lot longer, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is coming up on 15 years or your cast iron boiler is getting close to 50 years, it may be time to consider an upgrade.

Bills

If your utility bills are going up or you’re having to call an expert about your boiler more often, it could be because it’s time to invest in a new, more efficient boiler.

Discoloration

If you discover yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be an indicator that the fuel is not burning properly and could be producing carbon monoxide. If you see these issues or have any concerns surrounding carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Jack Nelson or your gas company straightaway.

Comfort

If some of the sections in your home are too cool or too warm and you can’t seem to control them correctly or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is no longer effective and you could need to look into upgrade alternatives.
